Our multidisciplinary team recognizes the complicated nature of spasticity and support patients with appropriate and individualized treatment options.
Program Overview
North Memorial Health’s Spasticity Program works with patients affected by spasticity. Patient assessment and education are key parts of the program and help determine appropriate treatment options.
We offer a multi multidisciplinary and comprehensive approach to spasticity and movement disorders. A team of providers works closely with all those involved in providing stroke care, including board certified neurology and physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians, neurology trained nursing and medical assistant staff.
Services include:
- Screening and assessment
- Oral medications
- Acute Rehabilitation Follow up care
- Rehabilitation Therapy – Occupational, speech and physical therapies including pool therapy, stretching and exercises
- Botox – Injections administered directly into the affected muscle to reduce spasticity.
- Intrathecal Baclofen Therapy (IBT) – A treatment option that delivers baclofen directly to the central nervous system via the spinal canal using an implanted pump and catheter (see back panel)
