Due to a change in federal law, many Minnesotans with a specific type of Medicare plan, known as a “Cost Plan,” may need to enroll in new Medicare coverage for 2019. While coverage will continue as usual through the end of this year, these Cost Plans will no longer be available after Dec. 31, 2018.
What this means for your patients
This means that North Memorial Health patients with affected Medicare Cost Plans will need to enroll in a new plan during the open enrollment period this fall in order to have coverage for 2019. As a solution, North Memorial Health has partnered with Fairview and several insurers to offer some competitive Medicare Advantage plans for patients to continue receiving comprehensive coverage.
Patients may ask you about the change in Medicare plans and if they’ll still be able to use North Memorial Health providers and facilities.
Information on new plan options is available and open enrollment goes through Dec. 7, 2018.
