Labor & Delivery

Labor and Delivery Rooms

You will experience labor and delivery in one room. Our rooms feature low lighting, attractive furnishings, and plenty of room for you, your family and newborn. Your room will look like a regular bedroom.

If you are interested, North Memorial offers in-house pagers for family and friends who are waiting for the birth of a baby. When the new mother is ready to receive guests, the pager will notify guests to return to the third floor Labor and Delivery area.

Once your baby is born, you will move to a private room that is furnished with everything you will need to care for your new baby. Your room includes a private shower and a pull-out sofa bed so family can stay together.

Services and staff come to your room for the convenience of you and your baby. We will involve you in all aspects of care and will provide support as your family learns how to care for your baby. We encourage keeping your newborn in your room with you as research shows newborns benefit from early interaction and bonding. Keeping your newborn close to you can support the baby's physical, emotional and social well-being as well as your own.
