Gender Care

Total Transgender and Gender Diverse Care

Welcome to healthcare that understands your whole self. North Memorial Health applies national standards of care recommended by the World Professional Association of Transgender Health (WPATH) to our program, from standard primary care to elements unique to gender care, such as transition and hormone management. We understand the nuances of your care needs, and we’re here to help you navigate them.

The North Memorial Health Advantage

  • We guide transgender and gender diverse patients through the process of transitioning. Each person’s background is unique, so we take the time to learn their perspective and help them create individualized treatment options.
  • Our clinical pharmacist guides hormonal dosing and conversations about side effects, drug interactions and risks-vs.-benefits related to medication.
  • Our clinical pharmacist and providers work together to ensure all your hormonal treatment options are adequately addressed. Our pharmacist can help you navigate other complicated insurance issues and prior authorizations that come with obtaining hormones.
  • As family medicine providers, we see people of all ages, including teens. In some cases, we prescribe puberty suppression agents.
  • We provide evaluation, counseling, prevention and treatment of complicated infections such as HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted infections, viral hepatitis, travel-related illness and more. We can also prescribe PrEP therapy to help prevent HIV infections when needed.
  • Many of our patients have successfully transitioned through the entire process, including hormones and surgeries.
  • You can feel confident you are coming to a clinic that will provide all the elements of primary care, from a team that is comfortable and familiar with transgender needs. This includes culturally sensitive interventions such as annual physicals, breast exams, pap smears and more.
  • We provide hormonal management and assistance with other elements of transitioning, including referrals to other specialists—such as psychologists and surgeons—who work with transgender and gender diverse patients.
