North Memorial Health – Blaine North
Featured Nurse
At North Memorial Health, we are one big family working together to provide healthcare the way it ought to be. Nurses are key members of our family. Like many, they make an impact with our customers and families day in and day out, tending to both their medical and non-medical needs.
We’re so proud of all of our nurses and the incredible work they do. Here is just one of our top-notch nurses we’re proud to call family.

Melissa Mendoza, RN, CEN, CFRN
“Knowing I have the potential to contribute to someone’s day through the platform of compassion has continued my inspiration to this profession.”
Growing up, Melissa Mendoza felt a calling to the nursing profession. Though there were no nurses in her immediate family, there were many healthcare professionals, first responders and police officers. Hearing about their work inspired her to get into public service, specifically nursing. She went to college and declared her major as nursing, but switched to marketing/management after a year. She completed that degree, but fell back into nursing when a friend got accepted to nursing school and convinced her to apply.
Mendoza started off her career as an ICU nurse, but landed a job in the emergency department at North Memorial Health and from there went on to become a flight nurse. Mendoza has had the opportunity to be in many roles, from nurse leadership, operations and outreach, but has always come back to being a flight nurse where she can be an advocate for customers and be an everyday leader fulfilling her sense of purpose.
