Recognizing North Memorial Health’s ongoing commitment and experience providing optimal care for injured patients
The trauma center at North Memorial Health has again been verified as a Level 1 trauma center by the American College of Surgeons Opens in new window Committee on Trauma (ACS COT). Verified trauma centers must meet the essential criteria that ensure trauma care capability and the highest level of institutional performance. These standards clarify the care that must be available to the injured patient at the facility, along with other expectations related to research and educational contributions to advance the field and to ensure the availability of highly qualified trauma providers in the future.
“Maintaining Level 1 trauma center verification from the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma is a testament to North’s unwavering commitment to providing the highest level of care to critically injured patients. This is reflective of the expertise, dedication, and teamwork of our trauma care team. We are proud to be able to provide the community with access to world-class trauma care when it matters most,” Carolyn Ogland, MD, President and Chief Medical Officer, North Memorial Health.
The ACS Trauma Verification, Review, and Consultation (VRC) Program helps hospitals to evaluate and improve their trauma care. It provides an objective, external review of a trauma center’s resources and performance.
North Memorial Health is also a participant in the American College of Surgeons Trauma Quality Improvement Program (ACS TQIP), ensuring the strongest surgical data to analyze and improve patient outcomes has been acquired. ACS TQIP complements the ACS Trauma VRC program by providing centers with the information they need to make changes to care so they continually improve the outcomes of their patients.
