Dr. Joan Gekonde enjoys fostering relationships with her patients. She strives to empower her patients toward making informed decisions concerning their rheumatologic needs through education and discussion.
Her areas of interest include, but are not limited to, lupus, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, psoriatic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, and vasculitis.

Dr. Gekonde’s appreciation for education was instilled at a young age. She volunteered throughout numerous hospitals in southeast Michigan which further solidified her desire to pursue medicine. She was mentored throughout medical school and residency with a strong interest in patient-centered compassionate care.
Her hobbies include running, traveling, exploring different cuisines. She also enjoys spending time with family and friends.
