Plastic or metal ear tubes are surgically placed within the eardrum if you (or more commonly, your child) is struggling with persistent fluid buildup, or frequent or chronic ear infections. These prosthetic tubes help open the Eustachian tubes and allow the fluid to drain or inflammation to go down.

Having your tonsils removed is known as a tonsillectomy. If you have frequent tonsillitis or trouble breathing because of your tonsils, you may need them removed.
