From the moment a stroke occurs, North Memorial Health’s stroke team understands the need for seamless care transitions and ongoing collaboration. Our Stroke Program is designed to provide coordinated care from the first point of contact through recovery and rehabilitation.

North Memorial Health’s Stroke Program at North – Maple Grove Hospital and North – Robbinsdale Hospital is committed to providing patients and caregivers with the resources they need to get the best possible care and live full and rewarding lives.

With the area’s most progressive and well-rounded approach to stroke, we remain in the forefront of stroke care nationally.

To ensure we provide the highest quality of care for our patients, our steering committee maintains certification and award-winning program elements through association with Det Norske Veritas (DNV), American Stroke Association, and Minnesota Department of Health.

Healthy Minds Connections support groups

There is no cost to attend our support groups.

Join us for an open conversation for stroke survivors with aphasia and/or other communication difficulties. Interact with others experiencing communication difficulties and practice your communication techniques.

Every Monday from 10 – 11:30am at North – Robbinsdale Hospital or by computer.

Discovery Circle explores issues related to family life and friends, including response to disability, social and leisure activities and returning to work or retirement.

Second Monday of each month from 12 – 1pm at North – Robbinsdale Hospital or phone.

In stroke, every minute counts

Stroke is the sixth leading cause of death in Minnesota and the leading cause of long-term disability. It’s also a condition whose outcome relies on the speed of care.

A quick way to remember the signs of symptoms of a stroke is to think BE FAST. Stroke is an emergency.

BeFast: Balance Loss; Eyesight Changes; Facial Droop; Arm Weakness; Speech Difficulties; Time. Call 911 immediately if you have any of these symptoms.
