Approach To Care
When I embarked on my journey in medical school, I didn’t know the field of ENT existed, much less an understanding of the role of an otolaryngologist and what they do. However, it didn’t take long for me to grasp our impact on individuals’ ability to communicate, whether through hearing, voice, or facial expressions. We also play a vital role in helping people breathe and sleep. As ENT specialists, we help people thrive, and that is what I enjoy doing for my patients. The opportunity to enable people to become the best version of themselves is what truly motivates me.
Throughout my medical training and career, I have been fortunate to experience different regions within the United States and abroad. Growing up in Minnesota, I ventured west after high school to attend the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado, where I excelled and earned a distinguished degree in biology. I then earned my medical degree back home at the University of Minnesota Medical School and completed my residency at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium in Texas. I have had the privilege of working as an Air Force Surgeon in England and serving in the British National Health Service for two years. Additionally, I have fulfilled duties at Wright Patterson Medical Center in Ohio, Langley AFB Hospital in Virginia, and the Air Force Academy. During a deployment to Afghanistan, I also served as the Chief of Facial Trauma.
A motto I adopted during my military service, which I strive to embody, is “In this office, everyone is treated like a General.” I firmly believe that every individual deserves respect.
