Approach To Care

Dr. Greiner embraces a holistic approach to health care, with an emphasis on risk assessment and prevention. With a significant majority of chronic health conditions related to poor diet, inactivity, smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, and lack of sleep, he offers care beyond the ever-important treatments of medicine and surgery.

Dr. Greiner treats each patient on an individualized plan, conservatively and safely weighing the risks and benefits of any medical direction or intervention. He believes that a trusting relationship between the physician and patient can result in small incremental improvements. As an advisor who empowers others to take control of their health, Dr. Greiner has witnessed his patients experience overall greater quality of health thanks to his expert consultations.

Personal

Practicing medicine is actually a “second career” for Dr. Greiner, who got his start in the commercial art world by managing an art gallery in Omaha, Nebraska. His interest in medicine grew from a fascination with the biology of the human body, so it’s no surprise that his hobbies are also in line with this interest.

He is an avid reader of publications whose topics include nutrition, activity, socialization, and sleep, and he enjoys finding ways to incorporate those lessons into his own life, whether it is personally or through his practice. Dr. Greiner is well-respected in academia, where he served as an academic hospitalist and assistant professor of medicine at the University of Minnesota. His research interest has been in palliative care and end-of-life decision-making.

Dr. Greiner is married and enjoys staying fit with his spouse. Together they enjoy swimming, weight lifting, healthy dieting and their Rhodesian Ridgeback, who keeps them active. He also enjoys traveling the world in his search for inspiration, and he considers South Africa the most interesting place he’s visited.
