From our entire staff, welcome to North Memorial Clinic - Elk River Physicians. We have been your neighbors for a relatively short period of time, but have enjoyed every minute of it. Our sole mission is to help people however we can. Whether it's holding the hand of a five-year-old with a slight sprain, explaining a complicated procedure to a grandparent or helping you develop a proactive care schedule, we're here for you. That caring attitude extends to the Elk River community as well. Whether they're participating in neighborhood programs or volunteering for charitable events - our organization and staff members are enthusiastically involved in a wide variety of community activities.

Tired of waiting weeks to see a doctor? At North Memorial Clinic, there's no longer a reason to. We offer same-day appointments. Simply call in the morning, and we'll see you that day. And to make life even easier for you, we can take your calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

If you require urgent care during clinic hours, call immediately. We will assess your medical needs and offer advice accordingly. If the physician you wish to see is not available, we can suggest another clinic physician to care for you.

After hours care

If you need to speak to a physician after clinic hours, please call (763) 257-8000. Our phones are answered at all times, and you will be referred to the on-call physician. In case of an emergency, call 911.

Insurance assistance

North Memorial Clinic accepts most major health care insurance plans, and we will file your insurance claims for you. Just bring your insurance card each time you visit. For more information, please call (763) 257-8000.

Our Doctors

 

Jim Guyn, MD

Jim Guyn is a Family Practice physician with interests in adolescent medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, preventive medicine, and sports medicine. Dr. Guyn received his medical degree from the UCLA School of Medicine. In 1982, he completed his Family Practice residency at Ventura County Medical Center, California. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Practice.
 

Colleen Cooper, MD, MPH

Colleen Cooper MPH, is Medical Director of North Memorial Clinic Services. She received her medical degree from the University of Minnesota, and an MPH from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She completed an Internal Medicine residency at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, and is board certified in Internal Medicine. Her emphasis is in adult medicine. She has been a clinic physician at the University of Minnesota, Boynton Health Service, and has also worked as a medical consultant with the Minnesota Department of Health.
 

Alexie Leitner, P.A.

Alexie (Lexie) Leitner has a degree in biology from Winona State University. She received her Masters degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Augsburg College in Minneapolis and is nationally certified. Her interests include women's health, mental health, and preventative medicine.
She is a member of the American Association of Physician Assistants and the Minnesota Academy of Physician Assistants.
In her spare time she enjoys outdoor activities, especially running. She also enjoys reading, movies and spending time with friends and family.

 

Kent David Johnson, MD

Kent Johnson is a family practice physician. A graduate of Bethel College where he majored in chemistry, Dr. Johnson received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School. He completed his family practice residency at North Memorial Medical Center.
His professional affiliations include the American Academy of Family Practice and the Minnesota Medical Association.
Dr. Johnson's areas of interest include promoting a healthy lifestyle, disease prevention, pediatric and adolescent health concerns, and managing chronic health conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, hypertension and lipid disorders.
Dr. Johnson's spouse is also a family practice physician. They have two children. Dr. Johnson enjoys family activities, hiking, canoeing, biking and reading.
 

Kavitha Bindiganavilae, MD

Kavitha Bindiganavilae is an internal medicine physician with a special interest in women's health and managing chronic medical conditions. She completed her residency from Interfaith Medical Center (formerly Brooklyn Jewish Hospital), New York. She received a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree (MBBS) from JSS Medical College, University of Mysore (India) Interfaith Medical Center (Brooklyn, NY) - MD in Internal Medicine.
She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine.
She enjoys traveling and cooking in her spare time.
She speaks English, Hindi, Tamil and Kannada languages.

 

Gary Brandeland, MD

Gary Brandeland is a Family Practice physician with special interests in heart disease, hypertension, minor trauma evaluation and treatment.
He is a graduate of St. Cloud State University with a degree in biomedical science. He received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota.
He completed his Family Practice residency at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire Clinic and Hospitals and is board certified in Family Practice.
In his spare time he enjoys visiting his two daughters and reading, especially military history.
